Treasure Chest Project - Stage 1:Modelling.

I was tasked with creating a treasure chest for a scene as part of an assignment. The treasure chest I created was simple enough to model but this had been the first time I had used a 3D modelling software. While my treasure chest design was simple I found it challenging to get used to and to understand the program at first but after a few tries the task became easier and I was able to create what I had intended.

The base I found was much easier to model than the lid but I eventually got what I wanted from the model. The lock/latch was something I had trouble creating. I wanted it to look good but to be very simple and with the help of some of my peers I was able to make a simple separate piece for the lock/latch that I attached to the lid of the chest.

While my first model looked great the base and the lock had to be remodelled as there were some mistakes made during the modelling process that I neglected to undo and this came up as an issue when trying to UV unwrap it.
After going back and remodelling the base and the lock the treasure chest looked better than the original.
